# PRODUCTION, RELIABILITY AND REDUCED DOWNTIME WITH EVOCON

[ Thalia Kalozoes ](https://www.bwcprofiles.co.uk/extrusion-academy/author/thalia-kalozoes)

At BWC Profiles, we supply precision aluminium and plastic extrusions and fabricated components across demanding sectors—from automotive to architectural. To stay competitive and ensure quality, we’re constantly investing in smarter ways to optimise our manufacturing processes.

A major step forward has been our adoption of **Evocon** into our extrusion and fabrication operations. Evocon is a real-time OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) monitoring system that gives us clear visibility into every aspect of our production.

**Why OEE Matters in Extrusion Manufacturing**

For manufacturers like us, OEE provides a powerful framework to understand:

- **Availability** – Is our equipment running when it should?
- **Performance** – Are we running at the right speed?
- **Quality** – Are we producing right the first time?

These metrics give us clear, actionable insights into where we’re gaining—or losing—productivity.

**How Evocon Helps BWC Profiles**

Since implementation, Evocon has helped us:

- **Automatically monitor downtime and run time** without manual tracking or guesswork
- **Visualise factory performance in real time**, via intuitive dashboards for operators and managers
- **Log and categorise stoppages** to identify repeat issues like die changes, setups, or material delays
- **Compare performance trends** across shifts, machines, or product types
- **Increase shop floor engagement**, thanks to smart visual tools like “Mr. Evocon”

Instead of relying on reactive problem-solving, we now have a real-time understanding of what’s happening across our key production lines. This enables quicker decisions, faster engineering responses, and more targeted continuous improvement.

**Early Results & What’s Next**

While  using the platform is still a relatively new practice, early insights have already helped us:

- Identify key downtime causes across extrusion presses
- Target process variability in changeovers and setups
- Improve communication during shift handovers

We’re projecting **double-digit OEE improvements** and a **reduction in unplanned downtime** over the coming months as we embed Evocon deeper into daily routines.

This investment is part of our broader commitment to operational excellence and delivering the quality, reliability, and responsiveness our customers expect.
